St Andrews Hawks 6 – 1 FC Bears - 4th September 2010
The Hawks kicked off the new season at home against our old
adversaries FC Bears. With a new kit and new signings the Hawks were very much
up for this game. The first half was dominated by the Hawks who couldn’t make it
count and were caught off-side too often. It took until the 37th min
of the first 40 for the Hawks to impress the advantage as new signing Rory
Bradshaw as centre back came up for a corner. Rory jumped the highest and put
the ball away with a thundering header to make it 1 – nil at
half-time.
In the second half the Hawks had the advantage of the slight slope on the pitch, they made it count in this half and once again commanded the game. Goals from Dom Campbell (42 mins), hat-trick from Jack Bocock (47, 50 & 79 mins) and Danny Hodgson (62 mins) caused damage to the Bears defence. The Bears did get a consolation goal on 65 mins when the what had been a formidable Hawks defence made a mistake in clearing the ball.
Final score 6 – 1 to the Hawks. Man of the Match went to Alex Twigg for a brilliant performance in his new role as a centre back.
