League match 19/11/11
Ladybridge Athletic 3 – 1 Jets
The Jets lost a close fought game against a good Ladybridge side, creating enough chances to win, but failing to convert them.
The first half started well (the parents still combing the grass for Lee’s lost wedding ring!) with Nathan making a forward run passing to Aaron, who could only manage a weak shot on target that was saved. Nathan then played Liam in after several good passes in the box, his shot being saved. Ladybridge then went 1 up with a good break-away goal. The Jets then got one back through a great move, Aiden playing it out of defence to Liam, who then got a cross into Nathan, who finished it in the top left corner. Ladybridge then got a second with another good goal. Ted then passed to Adam B who’s shot was saved. Aaron then got a cross into James, in the centre outside the box, his half volley going wide. Oliver then prevented Ladybridge getting another with a great diving save to keep out a long range shot. Adam B then played in Ted, who’s shot was saved. Just before half time James took a throw in to Adam B who crossed it to Liam, his shot again being saved.
The second half saw the Jets continue to attack well and have the majority of the possession. Adam B passed it to James who played it to Ted, his shot being saved. James then beat his marker on the left passed it to Liam who played it to Ted, another shot saved. James then played in Adam B in the centre his long range strike going over the bar. James then had another run up the left passed it to Liam who played in Adam B free on the right, he struck the ball towards the left post where Ted put it in the side netting. Ladybridge then got their third goal, with another breakaway. James then got another good pass in from the left to Adam B, again free on the right, he struck again towards the left post, where Ted put it against the post. The Jets continued to play well, Nathan playing it to Adam L whose shot was saved over the bar. Matthew then put in a good corner that Nathan headed just over, before the final whistle.
