St Andrew’s Jets Under 10’s
League match 24/09/11
Ladybridge Lightning 3 – 4 Jets
Another win for the Jets, who were always ahead, but had to make life hard for themselves by always allowing the opposition back in the game.
The Jets started the first half in a lively way attacking from the kick off. Matthew got a good early cross in from the left that no-one connected with. Joel then made a great run out from defence, beating 3 players before winning a corner. Matthew then had a shot on target that was saved. Then Liam played Nathan in, who struck a great shot that just bounced off the bar. The first goal came from Nathan passing to Liam who shot in the corner. They kept up the pressure, with Nathan shooting wide from a corner and Joel playing in Liam who hit it just wide. Oliver then had a good save, after having little to do. James had the final chance of the half, with a long range shot that was saved, 1-0 to the Jets at half time.
Ladybridge had regained their defensive shape at the start of the second half, the game being more even. The best chance coming from a big kick out by Adam B in goal, that Adam L put wide. Adam B then had a couple of good saves, before Adam L put James free in the box, his shot resulting in a scrappy clearance off the line. Nathan then broke out on his own, but his shot was weak and saved. Ladybridge then got an equaliser, before Liam got his second with a great run, after a pass from Ted, the keeper saving the first shot, but Liam following up the rebound to finish well. Matthew then put a great chip into Aaron whose header was saved and Nathan played in Liam whose shot was just saved. Nathan then had a shot saved over the bar, before getting on the end of a Liam corner to get his first goal. Ladybridge then got a second goal, before Nathan got his second after a great run and pass from Joel down the left. Just before the end Ladybridge got a third as the Jets lost concentration.
