St Andrew’s Jets Under 10’s
League match 03/09/11
Jets 1 – 2 Leigh Genesis
A disappointing result, in the first game of the season for the Jets, particularly in a game where they dominated possession and territory, but could not convert enough of the chances they created.
The first half started well for the Jets with some good passing moves. Nathan had a very good shot, from a central position, from a long kick out by Oliver, that was kept out by a reaction save by the Leigh keeper. Then James just completely missed the ball, from a good corner in by Nathan, when unmarked at the far post. Nathan then had a good header saved again by the Leigh keeper. Leigh went one up, against the run of play, when they took a quick throw- in the Jets area, the defence not being ready, as they thought it was a Jets throw. Aaron then had a good free kick from the edge of the area that went over the bar. Leigh then got a second from a sliced clearance that fell to their player. Adam B nearly got one back from a well worked free kick, Ted taking the kick to Adam B beyond the end of the wall, his strike again going over.
The second half was even more dominated by the Jets attacking football, with Adam B taking over in goal and kicking some good balls out. Adam L was put clean through, his strike being saved off the inside of the post by the Leigh keeper at full stretch. Matthew hit a good shot with his left that bounced off the post. Ted put the rebound back into Liam in the box, his shot being scrabbled away by the Leigh defence. Aiden took a good throw-in to Aaron, who was free on the edge of the area, but his shot went wide. Finally Liam got a scrappy goal, when the Leigh keeper could not hold a shot from Nathan, kicking it in while lying on the ground. Leigh only really had one good chance with a long-range strike from the right, Adam B tipping it over the bar. At the end Adam L was again put clear in the middle of the goal, his shot going straight to the keeper.
