St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s

League match 14/05/11

Jets 2 – 1 Bromley Cross

The Jets won their last League game of the season in a great game of football from both teams, wing to wing, as well as end to end.

They started the first half with a great display of passing and movement, pinning Bromley back in their own half. Bromley defended well though, allowing few clear chances, despite the Jet’s pressure. The game became more open after 10 minutes and Bromley scored a good goal from a counter attack. Adam L then evened the scores before half time, intercepting a kick out, dribbling past a defender and chipping the keeper into the roof of the net.

The second half started as the first did, with the Jets playing some great passing football and chasing everything. This time they started to get shots on target, working the Bromley keeper, who played really well. At one point he parried a good shot from Adam L, then knocked out Liam’s strike of the rebound and got across his goal to save James’ volley from that rebound. Finally Liam got the second for the Jets finishing a good cross from Adam B. Bromley had a few chances before the end, Oliver making a couple of good saves and interceptions of through balls. Before the final whistle, Adam B had a good chance from the left, just shooting outside the post into the side netting.

The Jets finished 7th out of 10 in the League, a good showing for their first season in the top division.

Scorers: Adam L, 1; Liam, 1;

MoM: Liam for all round effort and a goal.
