St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s
League match 26/03/11
Jets 2 – 2 Boothstown Rangers
The second draw in a row for the Jets, in a close game.
With Adam L on holiday Craig started with James up front and a midfield of Liam, Aaron and Nathan. The first five minutes saw some excellent short passing and one twos in attack, ending up with Liam scoring the first after a pass in from Nathan. The game then became very tight with neither side having many chances, until Boothstown scored a good equaliser. Before half time there was also the unusual event of a long throw by Boothstown going straight in the net, without touching anyone, resulting in a goal kick.
The second half was again a close game with both defences stifling any attacks. Boothstown were then awarded a penalty, after the ball hit Aaron’s hand, protecting his face, whilst blocking a long range shot. The penalty hit the bar and rebounded, only for Boothstown to score as the Jets failed to chase it in. The game was again tight until the last five minutes when Craig substituted Aiden and played an attack dominated side with only one defender. The Jets then got a corner which Liam headed in, it was not clear if this crossed the line before the Boothstown keeper scooped it out, but the follow up shot from Liam was given clearly in off the chest of a Boothstown defender. For once a goal mouth scramble going the Jets way.
Scorers: Liam, 2
MoM: Aiden, for great defending and passing.
