St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s

League match 19/03/11

Ramsbottom 1 – 1 Jets

This was a game the Jets should have won easily, but were really disappointed to only get a draw with a late equaliser. It would have been even worse to have lost!

The Jets dominated from the kick off and played in the Ramsbottom half all game. The few attacks by the opposition, being stopped by Joel and Aaron in defence. The Jets created many chances, only being denied by some great goalkeeping. Adam L was put through twice by Adam B through balls and also had a great chance saved, after a pull back from Nathan. James hammered a Nathan pass on target, to see it rebound from a reaction save, he then hit the rebound just wide with his left. Ted also had a couple of long range efforts on target and saved. Nil, nil at half time.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first with the Jets totally dominating possession and territory. Ramsbottom defended in numbers, their keeper again ensuring they stayed in the game. Adam B had a couple of half chances he couldn’t connect with, Nathan struck a great free kick, that the keeper tipped over the bar, Adam L finally beat the keeper with the outside of his foot, only for it to be cleared off the line by a defender from nowhere. Ramsbottom managed to go one up against the run of play, when the ball somehow ended up in the net after a goal mouth scramble from a rare corner for them. The Jets pressed and pressed, Aaron finally getting the equaliser with a fantastic long range strike into the top corner. Unfortunately, although continuing to attack they just did not have time to get a winner.

MoM: Aaron, for scoring the equaliser.
