St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s
League match 12/03/11
Bolton County Rays 3 – 1 Jets
Another defeat for the Jets, in a closely contested game. Yet again they created the chances to change the outcome, but did not convert them.
Fortunately the kick off was delayed, due to another game finishing late, giving Malc time to rush back home and retrieve Oliver’s boots! The game started with both sides evenly matched. Adam B played another couple of great balls through to Adam L only for him to hit the side netting. Bolton County went one up, from a break-away attack. Oliver pulled off a great save from the feet of the first attacker, unfortunately the ball spilled to the following up player, who had a tap in to an empty net. Adam L got the equaliser just before half time with a difficult strike under pressure, after another good pass from Adam B. A goal mouth scramble, following a Nathan corner, nearly got the Jets into the lead, the ball being judged not to cross the line.
The second half was again a close contest. Bolton County getting their second, directly from an in-swinging corner that Oliver just couldn’t hold on to. The third Bolton County goal was a good strike that beat the keeper well. The Jets continued attacking the whole game, Craig throwing on fresh legs to try and pull it back. Ted came the closest to scoring with a great first time shot from the edge of the area that hit the corner of the post and bar. Nathan also burst through with a late chance but only got a weak shot away directly at the keeper.
MoM: Adam B, for great passing and vision.
