St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s
League match 05/03/11
BISC 1 – 0 Jets
Probably the best game of football this season, 0 – 0 would have been a fair result for both teams, the Jets unfortunately losing out against the league leaders, to a late goal.
After the Jets managed to arrive at the correct ground (Doh! parents) the match kicked off on a good sized pitch, with a proper referee. From the start it was a close contest with end to end play and good football both in defence and attack, by the Jets. Oliver was involved in a couple of good saves and came off his line quickly to pick up long balls. The Jets best chances of the first half came from two great through balls from Adam B, cutting open the BISC defence and putting Adam L clear with only the keeper to beat. The first time the keeper just got there at the same time as Adam L to smother the ball, the second Adam L tried to lift the ball over the diving keeper, who just managed to catch it with his elbow putting it out for a corner.
The second half continued in the same manner, with some great football and total commitment from all the Jets. Adam B had a good chance early on, when he got clear wide on the right, his shot beating the keeper, but just going outside the far post. Oliver again had some good saves and covered any long balls well. Late on BISC scored with a good strike, when the ball ended up in space on the right for them. The Jets then threw everything at it in the last minute, ending unable to find the equaliser, but able to hold their heads high.
