St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s
League match 19/02/11
Hindley Town 3- 2
This was a close game away against Hindley, the Jets creating enough chances to get a draw, but being unable to convert them.
The Jets had a few good early attacks from the kick off, getting the first goal from an Adam L free kick on the edge of the penalty area that was chipped in to the near post where Nathan tapped it in. Hindley then came back with two goals, down to sloppy defending by the Jets. This then re-energised the team to raise their game. James putting in a great left footed cross to a free Adam L after a run down the wing, unfortunately he took a touch to control it and the defence was on him. Aaron then had a good long range effort on target, the Leigh keeper just keeping it out. Finally a long throw from Aaron was headed on by Adam B, dropping for James at the far post who turned and shot to get the equaliser.
The second half was tight with Leigh getting a third goal from a messy scrum in the box following a corner. The Jets continued to attack looking for the equaliser, James making some good runs and crosses from the left, Nathan doing the same on the right. However no one could get a clear shot away against a packed Hindley defence, on the fairly small pitch. Near the end Adam L had the clearest chance when James put a good pass through to him clear on the penalty spot. However, the ball got tied up in his feet and the Hindley defence were on him before he could shoot.
Scorers: Nathan 1; James, 1
