St Andrew’s Jets Under 9’s

League match 15/01/11

Jets 6 – 3 Galaxy

The Jets got back off to a winning start in 2011, after 7 weeks without a match, due to snow and Christmas. It was a battle of a game, as much against the rain and mud as the opposition.

In the first half they started really well with some excellent passing and movement, especially out of defence by Aiden and Joel. Liam scored the first after passing to Adam L, who played him back in to score. The second came after Aiden passed it into Liam , who slotted it past the keeper. Galaxy then got one back before Liam got his hat-trick from a ball in by Nathan. The Jets created lots of other good chances and could have easily had 3 or 4 more, Adam L, James, Nathan and Liam all being denied by good goal keeping, or last ditch defence, helped by the ball sticking in the mud.

In the second half the rain had got worse and although the Jets were still dominating play, Galaxy clawed 2 scrappy goals back, getting to 3-3, helped again by the conditions preventing us clearing our lines as normal. Nathan then put the Jets ahead again, after a good ball in from Liam. Liam then got his 4^th, after a pass from Nathan. Nathan getting his 2^nd near the end by getting a touch on a shot by Aaron that was on the way in anyway.

Overall a great battling win, the whole team showing commitment and playing with excellent passing and movement, despite the conditions.
