St Andrews Rocket 5 – 2 Bolton County Dolphins

Ben’s Breakfast …………………..

That was the main topic of discussion on the touch line on Saturday morning, what was it? What was in it ? Can the recipe be shared amongst the rest of the team?

The hat trick hero was on blistering form when he came off the bench to give a man of the match performance.

After a strong start with Callum shooting just wide, the unlucky Rockets found themselves 1-0 down after 5 minutes following an attacking move by the Dolphins no.10 who proved to be a nuisance all match.

It looked like it could be another long morning at this point but after another close Callum chance which was just kept out by their keeper, Ben came off the bench to level the scores at 1-1 – Game On !!

Ben quickly made it 2-1 to the Rockets and we were in territory we haven’t seen for sometime, all worried about whether we would hang on for a great victory. The crowds’ worries were soon allayed when Beck decided to break up the Ben Lowe show and put his name on the scoresheet with a fantastic break that was poked past their no.1 – a great solo effort.

But the Rockets like to make a game of it and shortly after it was 3-2 with the Dolphins showing some gumption and getting themselves back into it, we now had a contest again.

The pitch was cutting up badly now and at times the boys looked like they were playing with a cannon ball in treacle.

Now was the time the Rockets defence had to show it’s mettle and Jake, Ethan, Jude and sub keeper Lewis all played their part in keeping the Dolphins at bay. Ben’s final bit of porridge kicked in and he buried the ball deep into the dolphin’s net. 4-2.

Beck wasn’t taking that lying down and after a great back to front team move Beck got his brace with a composed finish. 5-2 Game Over.

This was stirring stuff and reminded the faithful Rockets supporters why they get up early on a Saturday morning. More of the same please ………………
