AFC OLDHAM 0 v 18 FLAMES
This was a high tempo
game, which The Flames set early on, and in a very short space of time the first
goal came from Enis. It wasn’t long
before a cross from Morgan found Alex in his debut performance having just
returned to St. Andrews. Quick footwork from Jaisal and a deft finish
into the bottom corner yet again by Alex made it 3 – 0. Three soon became four after a good strong
driving run from Liam which saw the ball firmly in the net. There seemed to be no stopping St Andrews now, and a long range shot by Enis became goal
number five. Great teamwork between
Khalil and Alex meant that Alex found the net yet again giving him a hat
trick. The seventh and final goal in
this half started right at the back with a fantastic run up the left wing by
Morgan, a pass to Enis who then displayed some nifty footwork brought the
oppositions goalie out of his net and gave Alex the opportunity to place a shot
into an open net. AFC Oldham seldom had
a shot at goal, but when they did, Harry Gaskill who was standing in for Sam in
goals first half, was on hand to make the necessary
saves.
Second half continued in
the same vain, and The Flames brought the scoreline to 18 – 0 at the finish,
seeing goals from Alex, Enis, Liam, Khalil, Harry and Florent. Lewis Barber was goalie this half, and made a
good save from the only shot AFC Oldham got.
MOTM was difficult this
week, because every single member of the team played well. However, it was felt it should be given to
Harry and Lewis for being stand in goalies, and although they had very little to
do, they rose to the occasion when required.
