Flames up against M/CR Maccabi and looking for a second straight win in just a few days. Despite a poor, sluggish start St Andrews took the lead through Khalil. One quickly became two with Florent finishing well from a corner and Flames began to get into their stride. The visitors were being pinned back. Jaisal forced the keeper into a great save, but moments later Khalil got his second and Flames third. Maccabi broke away just before the break, when a goal might have made things interesting, but Sam pulled off a good save flicking the ball off the goal post to preserve Flames 3 – 0 lead at the half.
The second period saw the home team ram home their advantage. Enis got a fourth with a neatly directed shot inside the far post, then a brilliant ball from the excellent Liam found Jaisal, who squared unselfishly for Morgan to make it five. Liam then got the goal he deserved following a great ball in from Florent, and Enis made it seven with a brilliant arrowed strike from 20 yards. Khalil got his hat-trick to make it eight. It was now one way traffic and just too easy for The Flames. They’ll face tougher tests and they’ll need to work harder, yes and despite the score here, play better. But it’s a great start to the season. Liam got a ninth from a penalty after Harry was tripped when he tried to score. Jaisal made it double figures as Flames were queuing up to score. Then right at the end it was Jaisal following up to make it 11. Well done to Sam in goals who didn’t have a great deal to do this game but when he did, he did it well.
